Reality Tunnels and Mind Nets
Am I who you think I am?
Are you who I think you are?
Does any of it matter?
Only if you let it.....
Don't get caught in the mind nets of others, or even your own. You may not be able to break free of your own reality tunnel, but at least realize that it is your own and no one elses.
None sees the world exactly as you do, because everything is relatively real. We pay more attention to certain things than we do others. Other people do the same. We cannot be all that affected by that to which we pay little or no attention. We are very affected by that to which we pay much attention.
Certainly we have certain shared, no matter how loosely held, illusions. It is necessary if we do not wish to live in Bedlam. Even our shared illusions are not seen in the same way. But what happens if our reality tunnels veer so totally apart that we don't even feel that live in the same country.
National schizophrenia, apparently with paranoid tendencies or we are having a spiritual emergency. The treatment for one is institutionalization and drug therapy. The treatment for the other is quite different.
Perception is reality, until you realize that it isn't. If we react forcefully to reality as we perceive it, we have trouble, especially when there are other realities we refuse to recognize for what they are; relatively real.
As human beings, when we are born, we go into "somebody training." Our parents believe they know who they are and they are pretty sure they know who we are. We begin forming "thought habits," based on all of our experiences.... all of those experiences to which we pay attention. We are thus formed and so are out "thought habits," our brains becoming less plastic, more rigid with every experience.
In times of great fear and instability, we tend to listen only to those words that we find comforting, even when they scare us even more. They are familiar, like comfort food, they are comfort thoughts. They prove us right in our own thinking, which has been programmed for years.
Freedom begins when we see that perception isn't all that real. There are other reality tunnels. They are all relatively real. You can choose to change your mind.....to think differently. Realizing that in a way that is quite real to you is the fist step on a long but necessary journey, leading you out of the prison cell of you own conditioned mind.
Choose to have different experiences. Don't listen to or read only conservative news and opinion outlets or liberals ones. With three there is often balance. It is the fist number in which balance can actually exist on the physical plane. three sources of experience is a good place to start.
There are realities other than this or that. This or that is a false duality, no doubt.
There is "this and that" and much more. Start the journey. It's the best thing you could be doing right now if you are feeling angry and afraid. There is never one without the other.
