So, what about uncertainty.....Do not rely upon what has been acquired by rote memory or repeated hearing, nor upon tradition, nor upon rumor, nor upon scripture....nor upon the consideration, "the monk is our teacher."
When you yourselves know that that a thing is bad, that when undertaken and observed,Buddhism for Beginners it causes harm and ill, abandon it.
Conversely, when you yourselves know that a thing is good, that is when it is undertaken and is observed to bring benefit and happiness, enter in to abide with it.
